Runway taxiway incursions

More runway and taxiway incursions take place at Lelystad Airport than at other controlled airports. That is why you will find information on this page about how to prevent these incursions at Lelystad Airport.

WHAT ARE RUNWAY INCURSIONS?

You are making a runway incursion if you are inside the runway's protected zone (shaded blue on the map below) without clearance. The holding points on the runway entries are outside this protected zone. The runway does not belong to this zone.

WHAT ARE TAXIWAY INCURSIONS?

A taxiway incursion occurs when you taxi on taxiways without permission. You will then drive into the maneuvering area without clearance. The red clearance line at the aerodrome marks the boundary of the maneuvering area.

The red line is indicated on the aerodrome chart of Lelystad Airport in the AIP. The map can be found in section AD EHLE 2.24 'Charts related to an aerodrome'.

HOW DO YOU PREVENT RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY INCURSIONS?

Request clearance from Lelystad TWR for taxiing, take-off and landing.
