Safety shows itself when nothing goes wrong. That makes it inherently hard to measure.

We focus on a multitude of indicators that gives us the right 'measurement' level to know where we are already good and where we can even further improve.

"Leading" and "lagging" safety indicators

We determine lots of factors that are important to achieve safe operations. Results of internal and external audits, safety surveys, safety culture "measurements", maturity questionnaires from CANSO / Eurocontrol or EASA and many more are generally called "leading indicators". Parameters that we measure during or after our direct operations are generally called "lagging indicators".
