Eshuis has been appointed by Minister Karremans (Infrastructure and Water Management) – on the recommendation of the supervisory board – for a period of four years, with the possibility of a one-time reappointment for a further maximum of four years. She will succeed Marlou Banning, who is stepping down as CFO of LVNL this summer after reaching the term limit.
Katja Eshuis will be responsible for the organisation’s financial policy and operational management. The CFO’s areas of responsibility include the Finance, Human Resources, Corporate Legal and Facility Management departments. During this period of significant challenges for LVNL, her focus will be on ensuring financial continuity and further developing the organisation.
Katja Eshuis is currently Director of Finance and Control at the Defence Staff of the Ministry of Defence, with responsibility for financial management and advising the military leadership in a complex administrative context. Previously, she held several senior finance and control positions at KPN and the Ministry of Defence.
“With Katja Eshuis, LVNL is gaining a CFO with a solid financial foundation and extensive experience in both the public and private sectors,” said Wim Kuijken, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “She has the ability to provide clear direction in a complex environment, with a keen eye for governance and risk management. Given the increasing collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the experience she has gained there is extremely valuable.”
Katja Eshuis: “LVNL plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and continuity of air traffic in the Netherlands. A number of interests that appeal to me greatly come together here, such as the public task, the legal mandate and the sector’s needs. I look forward to contributing, alongside with the board and all my future colleagues, to building a solid, future-proof organisation.”
Joost Meijs, CEO of LVNL: “Katja brings broad financial expertise and experience from complex organisations where political, social and operational interests intersect. Her analytical strength, meticulous approach and unifying leadership style will be an asset to LVNL. I look forward to working with her on the board.”
As a statutorily appointed executive, the CFO works closely within the board with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joost Meijs and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Ronald Dubbeldam. Chief Operational Officer (COO) Mark van Knippenberg is also part of the executive team. The supervisory board thanks outgoing CFO Marlou Banning for her dedication and the results she has achieved.
