Adjustments to air traffic during National Remembrance Day

During Remembrance Day on 4 May, there will also be a period of silence for air traffic in Dutch airspace. From 19:50 to 20:03, no take-off clearances will be issued at civil airports across the Netherlands.

Between 8.00 pm and 8.03 pm, there will be no taxiing movements on the ground and no landings. Aircraft that have not yet landed will be instructed to delay their final approach until after 20:03 pm and wait – in a holding pattern – at an altitude of over 2 kilometres in the airspace.

Furthermore, air traffic restrictions apply in Dutch airspace during various remembrance ceremonies. For the airspace above Dam Square in Amsterdam, these are in force from 18.55 to 21.30. Air traffic over the Grebbeberg near Rhenen will be subject to restrictions from 19.10 to 20.40, and over Bloemendaal/Overveen from 19.30 to 20.30. In the airspace above Apeldoorn/Loenen, these restrictions will be in place from 14:00 to 15:00, and at Soesterberg from 11:30 to 12:30. The airspace above Westerbork will also be temporarily closed from 18:00 to 20:00.

During the periods mentioned, it is not permitted to fly below a certain altitude within a specified radius of these locations. These local airspace closures have been imposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and are being enforced by LVNL.
