Civil air traffic in the Amsterdam FIR up to an altitude of 24,500 feet is controlled by the Area Control Centre (ACC) of LVNL. This is the air traffic control unit where the area control service is provided. Air traffic controllers and air traffic control assistants are responsible for the entire service provision package: air traffic control, provision of flight information and raising the alarm. This centre keeps traffic on the flight routes departing from, arriving in and flying over the Netherlands separated. The ACC is also responsible for traffic in the holding zones. The ACC staff work from the operational Hall in the LVNL building at Schiphol East.
