Schiphol connected to European network with CDM

Official status as ‘CDM Airport’

As of today, the airline parties at Schiphol Airport have their local Airport Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) process connected to the European network, managed by the Eurocontrol Network Manager Operations Center (NMOC). This means that Schiphol now also receives the official status of ‘CDM Airport’, following 27 other European airports.

Airport CDM is a process developed by Eurocontrol in response to increasing traffic in the European airspace. The idea behind CDM is that all operational partners (airlines, airport, air traffic control, handlers and Eurocontrol NMOC) meticulously share information with each other about the status and schedule of a flight. This results in an increase in the predictability and better use of the available capacity (airspace, gates as well as taxi, landing and departure runways).

Since 2015, Schiphol has been working locally with Airport CDM and now, with the connection to the European network, it also contributes to the improvement of the predictability of the European airspace.

By making use of Eurocontrol’s B2B web service, the airport satisfies an important future requirement in the context of SESAR, Single European Sky Air Traffic Management (ATM) Research.
