Are you organising an event that involves aircraft, such as an air show, a cycling race, a festival or a commemoration? Then you need to ask permission from LVNL. This procedure prevents adverse events during the flight. It also provides you with more certainty about your event.
Impact on the management of regular air traffic
Any activity in airspace can have an impact on the management of regular air traffic. This means that for each special event that involves aircraft, LVNL needs to decide if it can be facilitated and how. Analyses and arrangements are needed to do so, and that requires processing time.
In the table below you can find the kind of impact an event with one or more aircraft can have and how much processing time is needed for analyses and arrangements about flight operations during the event. Use the processing time as a minimal period to apply for approval for your event.
The processing time is an indication. It is based on our past experiences and on the time that other involved agencies (like ILT) need. You cannot, however, derive any rights from the processing time in the table above.
Approval from LVNL is always provisional
The operational circumstances at the time of the event, may require an air traffic unit to cancel an earlier clearance or to not issue a clearance at all, for safety purposes. LVNL cannot be held responsible for any consequences this might have.
Please contact the Operational Help Desk if you want to apply for approval for your event, or if you need help determining the correct processing time.
