Information airmen

LVNL is working on the further improvement of its information provision. Among other things, we have the intention to publish the information that is of interest to airmen on our website lvnl.nl. This also applies to everything that is required to organize special activities and flights.

  • Publications for airmen

  • Flight preparation

  • Special activities and flights

  • Meteorological information KNMI

To clarify operational procedures to pilots, LVNL creates animations. Below a summary of our most recent products.

Tuning in to the FIC frequency

Call to General Aviation: 'We like to keep in contact!'

The flying season for recreational aviators has started again! On summer days it is busy and that is something that the Flight Information Centre of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) has also noticed. The Flight Information Centre provides information to recreational air traffic about nearby traffic with the aim being to ensure safe flying. The information shared on the radio frequency is important for pilots. Direct contact between the pilot and the FIC prevents airspace violations and enables us all to make our airspace safer. As soon as FIC controllers notice that a VFR (Visual Flight Rules) aircraft is flying into, or threatening to fly into, a controlled area without permission, action can be taken if the pilot is tuned in to the frequency. This reduces the risk of an incident.

In order to inform everyone about how to tune in to the information, LVNL has started a campaign in which VFR traffic is called on to tune in to the frequency in question. Communication relating to this campaign is taking the form of posters at flying clubs and flying schools and via General Aviation magazines and social media. A folder is also available.

In addition to tuning in pilots can, of course, always call the FIC for flight information and the alerting service.
