LVNL has been an independent administrative body (ZBO) since 1 January 1993. Before that, LVNL was part of the Civil Aviation Authority Directorate General of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. As a ZBO, LVNL accounts for its performance to the State Secretary of Infrastructure and the Water Management. The staff of LVNL are civil servants, within the meaning of the Central and Local Government Personnel Act.
The Supervisory Board supervises the work of the Executive Committee and supports it with advice. The members of the Board are appointed by the State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment, for a maximum term of four years, and may be reappointed on one occasion only, for a further maximum four-year term.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is responsible for the day-to-day management of LVNL and represents LVNL in and out of court. The LVNL management follows the principles of collegial management. The Executive Committee manages the organisation and the business processes distinguished within it.
The members of the Executive Committee are appointed by the State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment, for a maximum term of five years, on the nomination of the Supervisory Board. Reappointment can take place for a maximum term of five years on each occasion.
The allocation of tasks between the directors is laid down in the LNVL Executive Committee Regulations. The Executive Committee members are jointly responsible for the tasks laid down in the Aviation Act. The Chairman of the Executive Committee holds a special position. Without prejudice to the principles of collegial management, he is primarily accountable for the results and the general performance of LVNL.
Management team
In order to execute the responsibilities of the Executive Committee, as described above, and to steer the day-to-day operations, the Executive Committee holds regular meetings with the management team (MT). In these meetings, organisation-wide information for decision-making by the Executive Committee is exchanged and the MT is consulted on decisions to be taken by or on behalf of the Executive Committee. For that reason, all business functionalities and processes are represented in this platform.
